Alfredo Bueno takes his first win for EF Education-Aevolo

American sprinter powers to the line on stage 3 of West Bohemia Tour

August 24, 2025

Alfredo Bueno secured his first victory in EF Education-Aevolo colors on the final stage of the West Bohemia Tour, winning a bunch sprint after a perfectly timed dash to the line.

Alfredo only joined our U23 ranks last month, making his debut at the Tour Alsace in France. In just his second stage race for the team, he secured a significant victory on stage 3 of the West Bohemia Tour after some excellent lead-out work from his supporting teammates, culminating in a final sprint that saw him finish well ahead of the opposition.

The final stage of the race also saw Ian Lopez move up to tenth on GC, while Joshua Golliker was rewarded with his consistently aggressive rides during the race to net the King of the Mountains jersey.

Alfredo’s win also marked EF Education-Aevolo’s tenth victory of the season, and sports director Greg Henderson paid tribute to our new sprinter and the collective effort that was put in over the four days of racing in the Czech Republic.

“Alfredo was fifth on stage 2, so he clearly had the speed. He’s been sprinting from tenth to fifth, so the advice I gave him was that he needed to prioritise position over power. He just needed to put himself into a good position, and he took that on board, and as a team, we couldn’t be happier,” Greg said at the finish.

Linus Larsson was Alfredo’s final teammate in the frantic finale and helped put the finishing touches to the leadout with around 600m to go. From there, Alfredo took over, navigating through the wheels before bursting out of the pack at the perfect moment.

“I’m really stoked for Alfredo and the team. It just shows that he’s willing to learn. He’s brand new with the team, but he’s fitting in really well. It’s a testament to our group that he’s slotted in so quickly. He said to me at the finish, ‘this is the first time I’ve won since juniors, I don’t know what to do,’ but we’re all thrilled for him, and it’s really cool,” Greg said.

“Josh was third on the first stage, Ian was top ten overall, and then Josh sealed the KOM jersey today after going on the attack again today. The stage was neutralized in the first 50km or so because of a crash, but we kept our focus, and we ended the race in a really good place,” he added.
